Introduction: We were commissioned to create 18 captivating exhibits that demonstrate the unique properties of a slinky as it interacts with a moving surface. The components, showcasing our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and quality, include plywood, CNC five-axis milled aluminum, and CNC-milled EPDM rubber.
Challenge: Manufacturing components for an adjustable-speed conveyor belt system with a control knob, set at an angle to the ground, to interact with a slinky. Ensuring that visitors can fine-tune the conveyor belt’s speed to create the illusion of the slinky remaining stationary as it moves downward.
Solution: Our team of experts utilized advanced CNC five-axis milling techniques to create the aluminum and EPDM rubber components with precision. We provided the components necessary for the assembly of the conveyor belt system and control knob, allowing for easy speed adjustments by the visitors.
Result: These 18 exhibits have been installed in various locations, engaging visitors as they experiment with the conveyor belt’s speed and observe the slinky’s unique behavior. The exhibit provides an interactive and entertaining experience for visitors, allowing them to explore the intriguing properties of the slinky in a hands-on manner.
